Welcome to the UFCW Local 1500 Website!

We regret to inform you of the passing of Local 1500 Lead Organizer, John Patrick Mallen.  John was 36 years old.  John fought a courageous fight for three and a half years against colon cancer.

John defined the word compassion and spent every day caring for working men and women. He was all that is noble about the labor movement.  Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

_{The United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 1500 has a long and successful history of representing supermarket workers throughout the metropolitan New York area.   We are a Union that has shown a steady growth of membership and fine contracts.}
