New York’s Largest Grocery Union Hosts Breakfast with Santa Claus

More than 200 community members and their children enjoyed breakfast, photos with Santa and gifts

WESTBURY, NY (12/12/2016)(readMedia)– On Sunday, December 11th, UFCW Local 1500 hosted a special breakfast with Santa Claus. This annual event serves as a way to thank Local 1500 members, many of whom work at area grocery stores and retail shops, for working so hard to make the holidays better for every Long Island family. More than 200 members and their families enjoyed a free breakfast and a photo with Santa Claus. Children under 12 received a gift from Santa himself.

“From turkey and cranberry sauce to prime rib and mashed potatoes – some of the best things to eat throughout the holiday season are made and sold by members of UFCW Local 1500,” said UFCW Local 1500 President Tony Speelman. “This annual tradition is the least we can do to thank our hard-working members for putting in weeks of late nights and long days between Thanksgiving and the New Year.”

The UFCW is the largest private sector union in the United States, representing 1.3 million professionals and their families in grocery stores, meatpacking, food processing, retail shops and other industries.
